@JournalofWhut Sorta. It's melodic death metal, which is pretty distinct from straight death metal. Besides just the use of more melodious leads, melodic death metal also lacks the cookie monster vocals of death metal. Straight death metal tends to be different rhythmically too; it can be fast but is more chaotic unlike the steady pace in melodic death metal. Check out Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Nile, or other bands like those and you'll be able to tell difference pretty quickly.
