California-born Carrie enjoyed a six-album, seven year-run with Griffey's companies (first, Soul Train, then Solar and finally the MCA-distributed Constellation imprint). While she was not a major chartmaker in the same way some of her labelmates were, the tall, sweet-voiced vocalist recorded consistently during her tenure with the company.

  • Some of the guys from Lakeside backing her up and you can tell! I loved that SOLAR sound!

  • Actually The Whispers did the background vocals on most of her songs.

  • Do you know if she is still in the business.? She was so lovely back then and had a terrific voice as well.

  • I read somewhere that she married Dick Griffrey. He own SOLAR at the time made millions and she retired from the business and raise horses. I think there is an album cover of her with a horse. It' might have been her LP cover for this song.

  • This cut was a real symbol of the solar sounds...I remember thinking when it first came out that it was actually Shalamar's tune until I found out at the record store! Lovely tune from a fantastic musical era!!!

  • I remember seeing her around oh LA LA in the early 80's she was Freda Payne without press clippings@! Fine as she wanna be!
