Go read/reread Harriet Beecher Stowes' classic novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. You will discover that the slur “Uncle Tom” is a bastardization of the truth. Tom, a house slave (a slave none the less) was a very honorable man; not a sell out as the slur implies. Tom is ultimately killed by field slaves, Quimbo and Sambo, who wish to gain favor with their white master Simon Legree. Quimbo and Sambo are the real sell outs.
