  • I am working on my first book using Dramatica and these videos are a wonderful help.

  • Hero & Villain, Success or Failure, Good or Bad, Change or Remain Steadfast - some binaries are "this OR that", others describe the two poles of a spectrum that falls between them. It's just the way our minds work at the most basic level: mind or matter, cause and effect, logic or emotion.

Still, the real key to understanding story structure is how pair of binaries, either as items or ends of a spectrum, relate to one another. Check out the Dramatica Table of Story Elements on our web site.

  • What about an anti hero? Were do they fit in?

  • So everything to do with writing screenplays can be broken categories the count of which is always a power of 2? Seems like a pretty big coincidence :)

  • This was a HUGE help. You explain things so simply! Thank you!!
