@Dowanification I'm a newbie myself, so I can only help you with my understanding of mass. There is a perk for flag defense called Super Heavy, which increases your mass. This means that explosions throw you around less. By extension, with less mass, you would be thrown around more. Thus, disc and grenade-jumping would be more effective and better with less mass. Keep in mind that this is an assumption, but it seems solid enough to me, logically.

@SignificantOwl It did, thanks. Been trying out the recharge pack, and it really helped getting my speed up.
Now i just need to upgrade my equipment, as well as buy the assault rifle so i can deal with those homing rockets. Shotgun doesn't exactly help there.
Although it's not really a pathfinder-only question, does anyone know exactly what player mass does?
In normal physics it should allow me to go faster, but you never know about games.
Does it affects player collision too?

@Dowanification (General) Loadout for a capper is: Spinfusor, Machinegun (Though not really essential), impact nitron and energy recharge pack. The energy recharge makes previously impossible jumps and routes possible. Perks: Reach/Egocentric.
Thrust pack is good if you're a flag chaser, as it can help take you from 0 to 150+ very fast. Chaser setup is similar to capper except for using thrust pack and bolt launcher. Perks usually Reach/Egocentric again.
Hope this helped!

Great tutorial!
Just started playing tribes, and I'm still learning the ropes around there.
There's just something I'm wondering about though, and that's your preferred load-out (pack/perks). You've most probably got reach at the very least.
You talked about the pathfinder having faster recharge rate, does that mean you don't use the thrust pack, and if you don't, is there a reason for that?

@Eukatheude Yes. I used it in Tribes 2 so I felt that a Ski+Jump button carried over well. Having the ability to Jump seperatelywhile skiing though is something worth getting used to from the beginning as it will really help you with advanced play.
Do you have any advice on key configuration? I'm not sure that having jump and jetpack both on right mouse can be too good for skiing.

@Eukatheude I use Jet on 'Right Mouse', Jump+Ski on 'Space Bar', and Jump on 'L-Shift'.
