My son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on March 18th 2009. He spent 5 days in ICU, he had lost weight and was dehydrated due to the diabetes. Today he checks his blood sugar 6-10 times a day, and gets at least 4 shots a day. He just goes about life still smiling. Thanks for your support.
@09multikatie No, Type 1 is not anything to do with weight. The pancreas stops producing insulin, and it is an autoimmune disease. Type 1 diabetics have to do daily insulin injections daily to stay alive.

You are coping so well. Congrats on that. I am 18 and was diagnosed at the age of 8. Never be ashamed of who you are. Diabetes makes us no different from our peers. If people cant see that, then thats their problem! We just have to keep fighting until they find a cure.
