  • Calm down mate, the ship was empty - a retired vessel so no-one died... and come on, its not everyday that you get to see something as sweet as a ship being blown up!

    Modern anti ship torpedoes doesn't work that way. The are designed to detonate underneath the hull. The explosion then creates a pressure wave that snaps the keel.

  • @baileyjean1000 Both really, the purpose of a torpedo is to penetrate the hull, then detonate once it has entered the ship's center of mass. The explosion then rips the boat in two, rendering it useless.

  • Does a torpedo destroy by actually penetrating the hull, or by the shock wave produced by it exploding? And I know I shouldn't say it, but that was sooooo cool!

  • @ProfHubertFarnsworth Yah man nuke mk 48's and earlier models have been around since the cold war got real going. We submariners call then the last shot, cuz the shock wave it to damn fast for every sub on earth.
