  • Why do you have to take this to a political area? This is a crime against these local people's rights. Whether you are a conservative or a liberal has nothing to do with it. Open your fucking eyes! They don't give a damn about you, all they care about is getting more money!

  • Ecuador doesn't hate Americans they hate snobby American Companies.

  • And you are right, the internet does provide a great way for people to show their ignorance, you are clearly showing yours.

  • @nmmk1234 76 is owned by ConocoPhillips... Also I find it funny that you say people are being "swayed" by the media, I am a US citizen, and have been to Ecuador, and have seen the problem. I have also emailed Chevron about the issue to receive a self contradicting statement where they basically admit that this was caused by Texaco, which they now own, however they believe that they arent responsible to pay the damages. Why do you think Chevron requested the case be moved from the US to Ecuador?

  • @tmgrk1 part of this is negative, it was Texaco who did the spilling not Petroecuador. Chevron bought Texaco and inherited all problems caused by Texaco. It is their responsibility.

  • The people of Ecuador attempted a case in the United States against Chevron and once Chevron realized they were loosing the case they decided to go to Ecuador, and try their luck with Ecuadorian courts. Too my knowledge this was with hopes of being able to payoff a judge in their favor which obviously hasnt happened. Instead the case has gone on for years, and a few months ago the people of Ecuador won their case, but Chevron appealed this decision. Dont be a dimwit do some research.

  • @dudezillo Im sorry sweet heart but you are very misinformed. You should actually do some research. The oil spills were caused by Texaco, which did not keep up maintnance on their pipelines, and caused many oil spills throughout the Ecuadorian Amazon. In the 90's the made a small payment to the government of Ecuador, which was left to them to help cleanup the mess. However it was no where near enough. Then Chevron bought Texaco, however has refused to take any responsibility for this destruction

  • @firger123 Do you realize how many items are made with oil? Its not just gas powered cars.

  • Ive been to Ecuador, Ive seen some of the damage, and have spoke to some of the people and families that have suffered directly from this. It is terribly sad, and the people are some of the kindest I have ever met. They don't hate Us, (nor Canadians, or the Japanese) (google information about the fight against copper companies in Intag, and Junin regions of Ecuador), but they dont like 2 be taken advantage of by companies. Their human and environmental rights are being violated people. HELLO!

  • DAVID O'REILLY do not be reckless, pay for the damage your company has done.

  • @misayo85 thank you! whether you are a socialist or conservative etc. WE need to stand up for the indigenous peoples rights in ecuador!! chevron needs to be stop and sued before they destroy any more of mother nature

  • chevron refusing to pay the fine and take responsibility for the damage they've done to ecuador. they're ten times worse than bp.

pay up and take responsibility you deadbeat arrogant american bastards.
