Support "UNDERDOGS," a film that shows that public education can work.

McGrath Elementary is a school in a suburb of Los Angeles whose students test well. Many would be surprised to learn that this school is actually considered a classic "school of poverty." The majority of students are on free or reduced lunch, half are second language learners and 90% of the students are minorities.

McGrath's API ranking is 9 out of 10 and their scores are typically around 100 points above the median scores for similar schools.

This year, their goal is for 90% of students to pass the state's standardized tests. Who selected this goal? Not the teachers, but the current 6th Grade class. Oh, and they've decided to invite President Barack Obama to go to the movies with them next year if they achieve this monumental goal, in keeping with their annual tradition of going to the movies each Fall in celebration of their success. We're telling their story -- the story of a public school that is doing it right and of the teachers, staff and students who make it happen.
