I'm still vacationing on the mesa. I'll be back in a week or two. Meanwhile, I have added Camp #5 to my Google Map:

Title: Many a Long and Lonesome Highway
[two chord changes]
Yes I had a woman love me
I gave her what there was there of me
And it was good as it could be.
Then I heard a wild world calling
I saw a lone star falling
I caught a song and set it free.
And many a long and lonesome highway
Lies before us as we go
And in the end I'll do it my way
Look for me where the four winds blow.
I believe in love and danger
I believe that truth is stranger
I believe that fear is much too strong.
I believe the best will find me
When I leave the rest behind me
Out on the highway I'm my own.
And many a long and lonesome highway
Lies before us as we go
And in the end I'll do it my way
Look for me where the four winds blow.
And every night's a new beginning
Every day the world keeps spinning
Sometimes it's hard to stand up on my own.
And to the east the moon comes showing
To the west there's storm clouds growing
And though by myself I'm not alone, no more.
My [brother] on his deathbed told me
There's really nothing left to hold me
Though I was there he died alone.
It's gonna take a fast train leaving
to shake my world of grieving
I guess I'll go until it's gone.
And many a long and lonesome highway
Lies before us as we go
And in the end I'll do it my way
Look for me where the four winds blow.
And Many a long and lonesome highway
Lies before us as we go
And in the end I'll do it my way
Look for me where the four winds blow.
Man, it's dry and sunny out there. Night frost and bare trees here...
Nice open country. Wilderness trip - pioneer style, neat.
Isn't every patch of land owned by someone though?

@a1mint ; The land I was on is publicly owned by all American citizens, but it was stolen from the Spanish after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was ignored; it was taken by force from the Apaches before that; it was taken by force from the Pueblos before that.

@Desertphile Is that similar to what we have in Canada called "crown land"?
Publicly owned? There is such a thing? Is there a lot of land like that in the US? Does any of this public land ever get sold off so that the State can raise money?

@a1mint ; In Canada it would not be "Crown Land:" it would be "The Commons," as in the United Kingdom. "The Commons" was non-developed land that citizens held "in common" to hunt and fish upon; Crown Land would prohibit people from hunting and fishing, as it's reserved for royalty use. In the USA what we call "Public Land" is held in common with everyone--- we all own it, and anyone who wants to can enter a lottery to get a permit to hunt and fish on the land. There s very much public land.

Great footage, and it all reeks of peace, relaxation, and enjoyment. I'm sure it feels even better than it looks.
BUT! In the interest of fairness to self, stop selling yourself short, DP. Your rendition of this song is worthy of sitting back, cranking the volume, and seriously listening. Maybe you're not quite ready for a contract with Sony Music, but you're good, Sir. Damn good!

@anmoose ; Otch, thank you. I sang it while in the back of a Chevy Tahoe, freezing my ass off. In another day or two I am going back up there to finish vacationing, I hope.
