Industrial Steam in North Kent

The Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers (APCM), later known as Blue Circle Industries, came to the North Kent area to quarry chalk in 1900, and by 1920 owned four such operations located at Swanscombe, Northfleet, Greenhithe and Stone. Here we see rare footage of the railway complex at Swanscombe in 1968. Four of the little Hawthorne-Leslie saddle tanks seen here have been preserved.

For once, I can answer - the cameraman is thought to be Edwin Wilmshurst. This was shot during an organised enthusiast's visit in 1968, so he was probably not an employee of APCM.

Does anybody have any footage of the Northfleet Deep Water Wharf Co operation at the Imperial Wharf. NB view this wharf on GoogleEarth. It would make a brilliant 'shunting puzzle' layout!

I am currently making a new programme called Industrial Railways in Southern Britain for release in about a month. It includes my footage of Swanscombe, BICC, Bowaters, Snodland etc plus footage from others, plus loads of other stuff. I would love to include the two clips referred to below.
