August Is Over Chapter 26

Mick's POV I bound blindly from the equipment closet and out into the fluorescent-lit hallway, leaving Nick to find his way out as I run to catch up with Blair. I see her tan legs and auburn hair flouncing in front of me and I amble up to her, breathing heavily from the running-and from before. "It's about time." Blair laughs winding her arm through mine, Wizard of Oz style. I giggle and we being to skip. "Where're we going anyways?" I ask her as we slow to a walk. Blair looks over at me through her hair and then she tosses it out of her face. "I did need to measure you, but that can wait." she grins and I lift an eyebrow. "I know I haven't known you that long, so if it's too personal I understand." she begins. I nod. "How long have you been with Nick?" I glance at her and then do the math in my head. Well, June, July... September. "Four months maybe?" I tell her with a shrug, though it feels like it's been so much longer now that I think about it. "Shit, that's a record." she teases. I stop for a second and look at her, but she keeps walking so I do too. She looks over at me with a clouded expression and then she gives me an apologetic half-smile. "Sorry, it's just, with Nick girls don't stay around too often. I was surprised," she shrugs and I smile wearily. "It's okay. I am too." I tell her honestly, my cheeks getting hot just from thinking about him. Blair laughs and looks at me with her warm brown eyes, "Why are you surprised?" I shrug and lick my dry lips, reaching for my phone and chap stick. Then I remember I gave it all to Nick to put in his pockets, because they made weird bulges in my jean pockets. "I don't know, sometimes I just think that I'm just here until something better comes along, you know?" I meet Blair's widened eyes and furrowed brows. Apparently, she doesn't know. "It's crazy right?" I laugh humorlessly to myself, shrugging my slender shoulders. "You're what's crazy. Mick, I have never, ever seen Nick so shamelessly smitten before. I've known the kid since he was what, twelve? Never once have I seen him smile with his teeth for more than 2 seconds. Nick's never been one of the happy, shiny people of the world, obviously. But it's like, just from watching you around each other, it's crazy the way you two are. It's like a train wreck. It's like, sickeningly adorable to watch, yet I can't look away. You know what I mean?" I laugh and nod a little. "I feel that way about Lily and Joe. They're so mushy but I can't stop myself from watching them." Blair and I both laugh quietly and we come to the end of the long hallway to the door leading outside. She opens it for me and we both step outside into the blinding sun. I let the heavy door slam shut and I see a familiar frame jump in front of me animatedly. "Declan," I smile at him, hooking my fingers in my front pockets. "Hey Mick," he grins back, drinking me in in a way that makes me nervous. Then doing the same to Blair. "What're you girls up to?" he asks, flashing a toothy grin. "Nothing, just going for a walk." Blair replies politely. Blair grabs my hand suddenly and smiles at Declan. He touches my arm gently and his blue eyes meet mine, "Can I talk to you for a second?" I nod at him and Blair pouts. "Make it quick, I still need to measure you." she reminds me. "Yep." I chirp and Blair begins to walk away. "Oh wait!" she stops me, pulling her phone from the pocket of her skinny jeans. "Take my phone. I'll get yours from Nick and call you if it gets too late." I shake my head at her and she waves me off. I turn back to Declan and see him waiting for me. We begin to walk together in step and he smiles over at me. "She's nice." he notes. "Yeah, she is." I agree with a smile. Declan is quiet for a second and I look over at him, his brunette hair tucked behind his ears slightly. "So, there's something I've really been wanting to show you lately," he grins wryly and I wiggle my eyebrows at him. "Okay, shoot." Declan takes my hand, without interlocking our fingers (thank Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, all that is holy, Nick would've wet himself.) "Where're we going?" I laugh as he leads us up the hilly lawn seating, towards the stage light housing and bathrooms. "You'll see," he sings in falsetto and continues lead me along. We make it all the way up the hill and start walking on the pavement towards the barren merchandise stands. "Declan where are we going?" I ask, this time still laughing but a little firmer. This time Declan doesn't answer, he just grins over at me. I smile back too, continuing along in his footsteps.
So...... anybody wanna try and guess what in the world is going on? Feel free. Maybe if you guess it right, I'll have a marathon? :)

i bet he take mick to go mini golfing where aliens come and take her and the only way they will give her back is if lily gets eloped to joe!!! yep thats it or declan tries to come onto mick and she is firm and is like no but it too late cuz nick has already saw her with delcan...i am pretty sure my first guess is right!!
