Wow, I could have used that crow when I lost my ring down the drain. The plumber just did what the crow did and charged me a hundred bucks.

Between this and those chimps that are fashioning spears out of sticks I'm beginning to worry a bit.

Dogs can smell and hear better then us. Does that mean we can't smell or hear? Animals have good brains, just not as developed as ours. The use of tools isn't just for humans as we tend to believe

@badmashabhi there's monkeys that use tools. google capuchins tool use, it's amazing.

I would argue that humans, simply due to evolution, tend to have a much more developed intellect (the same way that hawks have eyes infinitely better than ours, or how dogs can smell much better than we can). I do not, however, believe this automatically robs other animals of self-awareness or whatever else one wants to argue for

I think all animals use tools. Today I just saw a catapiller type animal use a small peice of bark as a mobile home, it had a hollow hole in it and its bottom half sat in the hole while the bead and legs part moved around. so it had a mobile home just like the octopus can. I think all animals are consciously aware of thier own existence and reality

wow.. maybe that's the difference between human beings and animals. Teaching.

Wow! I think we have a revolution on our hands. First we discovered monkeys made tools in the wild, and we can teach birds to.. what else can we teach animals to do? If we can teach animals to make and use tools, and they teach their young the same who KNOWS where we'd get.

No problem. I doubt I'd think to make a hook in that situation!

originally this was filmed by a crew of scientists. I found it posted on Neil Gaiman's blog a few years ago, and wanted to share it with all of you.
