Special thanks to professional videographer, Jim Costa ( http://www.youtube.com/user/jimcostafilms1 ), for saving this footage for nearly an entire DECADE!!

This is me as a kid, competing in a local Olympic sparring tournament. I was about 17 at the time, and had been training around 2 years. I was a 3rd keup underbelt. I had a "red" belt on, but in my school, red was 3 belts before black, instead of just before black, so I actually was at the same level as my opponents. I was pretty sloppy, and my technique needed a lot of work. But you've gotta start somewhere. Hopefully, when compared to my current skill level, this will help show my viewers that skill only comes with years of consistent training. The first fight was against the shorter blue belt, and the 2nd fight was against the taller green belt.

Fast forward 4 years and see my Olympic style retirement fight here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp79uMSZC8w
You can easily see the progression in my ability level from 2002 to 2006.

  • @MynameisAbhaySoni one more thing, if you look at the slow-mo at 6:21 you'll notice he skips into the kick which (although effective) is a risky move to begin with.

  • @MynameisAbhaySoni He just got knocked down by a kick. If he was knocked out he wouldn't of got up nearly as fast. Also it's hard not to fall down here and there when your constantly attacked/attacking on one leg. Thats why you'll see alot more falling down in taekwondo, not because your getting knocked out but because taekwondo doesn't do as much rooted footwork as other arts. Some arts will actually kick the leg thats used to balance so that the opponent falls down.

  • when did u start practicing TaeKwonDo?

  • Should I keep my head tucked in while playing TaeKwonDo sparring or should I just leave it as it usually is.(Relaxed).

  • Kid Kwonkicker.... I think you mean BEAST KWONKICKER

  • HELLO KWONKICKER PLEASE "CAN YOU LOOK MY VIDEOS PLEASE IN YOU TUBE" LOOK IN DIANACARMONA

I HAVE LEARNED FROM YOUR VIDEOS

  • your axe kick is very awsome

  • I have a request for a tutorial type video based mostly or entirely on sparring (that is unless you already have one). I watch your videos for help in sparring and Taekwondo in general, but I think a pointer and technique video for sparring would help me and your other viewers/subscribers improve ;D Thanks so much
