Infants root, is a survival instinct, they will rub their faces on anyone shoulder, arm pit, neck, or just anywhere to show that they are getten the munchies. babies will even suck on your neck, chin, hand or face, it's just what they do and it's funny and cute

oh my gosh people, get over it! The child isn't starving to death! She would be crying if she was! Babies have the natural instinct to search for the nipple- sometimes they get confused as to who's nipple they're actually looking for! This is an early cue meaning that the baby is a little hungry.

Oh gee people don't get your undies all in a bunch...this baby is not that hungry, if at all. She'd be hollering and appear frustrated if she were! Babies will root like that..it's a reflex...kinda like when your doc hits you on the knee (or based on some of the comments on here, your doc should check your noggin!)
