The Swiss Bar really helps take some stress off the AC joint since it's a neutral grip bar as opposed to the conventional pronated grip bar. This allows the nerves running through the shoulder to have more room, and thus, less chance of impingement issues since there's less internal rotation at the shoulder.

The bar also targets the long head of the tricep brachii

Performing this exercise with the reverse bands really targets the strength curve from the mid to the top of the range of motion. The bands take off about 60 pounds (the ones we used here) at the bottom, but once you start pressing the weight up, the tension on the bands decreases. It's important to really try to accelerate through the press so your bar speed gets you passed the point were the tension is low.

This exercise will really help you gain strength in the mid to top position, and will transfer to more strength in the conventional bench press.
