Handpainting Yarn - Fast Forward (The Yarn Side)

This is a sped-up version of my dyeing a colorway for my business, The Yarn Side. I thought it would be fun to work a video up of the process, but the tricky aspect was whittling it down into a watchable 4 minutes. I decided to tweak it a bit, speed it up a couple of times, and toss in some drum'n'bass music because that always goes well with fast forward videos, doesn't it?

Where do you get the colors? I'd LOVE to make yarn with MY fave colors rather than being stuck with what the stores THINK I like LOL. And can you do this with crochet thread as well? (like bedspread weight or smaller?) Just curious...

@dankimforde I'm not able to take a video at this time, but you simply need to wrap the yarn in a cling wrap to seal it in, then steam it using either a steamer pot or microwave for a few minutes. Once it's done, let it cool, then rinse it out with water from the faucet. Gently squeeze the water out, then hang it to dry on a clothes line or similar.

@dankimforde thanks so much. the drying process comes after steaming the yarn, rinsing out excess dye, and then i hang it up on a drying rack outside.
