dan did not get out of his car. Dan had to be pulled from the car and was directly air lifted to Uiversity Medical Center where he was pronounced Dead on Arrival.

@Ponchovillla14 "severe trauma to the head" The back part of the car was ripped off when he hit the fence and they believe his head hit one of the poles that hold up the catch fence. He was also beleived to be dead before the caution flag even flew.

@TheSVPproductions I'm a registered nurse and I work in neurology and neurosurgery and I mean nothing bad about this but he most likely didn't suffer. His trauma most likely took him quickly. I hate to see Dan go. R.I.P

@Ponchovillla14 blunt force trauma to his head, he hit one of the catch fence posts at 160mph. it took race officials 30 minutes to get dan out of the wreckage of his car.

@TheSVPproductions - I've tried to analyze this exact statement. After many looks I could discern Wheldon's car being shorn in two. I would have thought he had fallen out of the cockpit through the ripped-apart body and been run over, but I am surprised now that he was still in his car after that. I don't know how that accident could have been survivable if repeated. Ironically, the on-camera in his car was airing live when the accident started; seconds later, he's dead.
