The good: it was especially tender, as I imagine it should be.
The bad: the tempo reduction at the garden wandering part that persisted to the end made for a dragging and disappointing finish.

There are little, syncopated segments scattered about this piece. Like pearls found when digging through sand, these segments must be clear- they must shine. Too many singers bulldoze right through them like they're nothing special.
This is a long piece with a very impressive piano part (as well as rhythm and range in the vocal part). The text is very beautiful- as is the history behind the piece (it was a wedding present from Strauss to his wife).
Sorry, but her dress looks ridiculous.
