Without China's support, the military junta would never have survived that long ("stability" in the Orwelian speech of Peking). China needs Burma for strategic reasons (string of pearls strategy) and for natural resources (energy, timber and jade!). Burma is nowadays practically a colony of China, economically, politically and demographically (influx of recent immigrants).There is not much the US can do about it, because China views control of Burma as part of its "core interests"

I thought the US was opposed to the Chinese government censoring the internet but my comment about this video was censored by Stanford. What a bunch of politically correct cowardly pseudo-intellectual hypocrites. I sometimes understand why Sarah Palin has some support in the "land of the free and home of the brave" (but not at Stanford) hahaha
