This was the music for our show in 2009. It was my freshman show. Its a rather challenging show, but the music is AMAZING :) Our band still has it memorized, and every once in a while, we randomly burst out playing one of the parts :)

  • duuuude my highschool is playing this for the 2011 season (: im SOOOO excited, only it sucks cause im a woodwind...this is a brass show but still sounds amazing <3

  • @haleyyx725 Haha youre gunna LOVE this show, its so much fun! :D there was a ton of drill for us, so it was really fun, and the musics really jazzy! im a trumpet player, so i definitley loved it., but it has some really cool woodwind parts :D

  • @TheTrumpetAddict im a trumpet player too and we're doing this show. But i'm going to play mellophone instead because unless you're that G trumpet hitting the double Gs or the second trumpet soloist, its not too exciting. What do you think is the better instrument to play?

  • @Dbuzz360 Well we played this my freshman year, so i played 2nd trumpet, and it was pretty fun lol. Ive never played mellophone, and i really dont know if they mellphone part is more fun :) haha, but i think you should play trumpet :)

  • @EpicSaxophoneDude yup, i guess your french horns play the flugal. I guess to have a better balance and smooth sound to the band because of the size of it! I know that high school and if i'm not mistaken, it has a rather large band

  • I wish I could still play trumpet. Dat solo/duet. but, it's all tuba for me.

  • @Dbuzz360 hey sorry about that we are not talking about the same instrument because our band's marching french horn doesnt use a french horn mouthpiece and it isnt very obnoxious so you were right but our band is different then most bands i guess... my band is downingtown west highschool marching band in pennsylvania if you whanted to know

  • @EpicSaxophoneDude Although a flugal is a marching instrument I've seen in some bands (rare and not very contributing), french horn players usually play the mellophone, because it uses a french horn mouthpiece (most have an adapter for trumpet mouthpieces too) and it is loud, obnoxious, and the picture of the blast of sound that is marching band (I love marching band). So if we are talking about the same instrument, it is called a mellophone, definitely not a flugal

  • @Dbuzz360 ok well in my band a french horn plays the "flugal" although in one of the commentaries from a judge on one of our shows they did call it a mellophone so if you are right (i think you might be) then my entire band is wrong, there are 200+ people in my band

  • @EpicSaxophoneDude nono, the instrument is a mellophone, a "marching french horn", as they call it. A flugal is a trumpet, but a lot mellower and it has a softer sound, more adept for jazz ballads and such. I know how to get god range on the trumpet, as it is my primary instrument. My cheek muscles are very strong if I do say so myself! :D

  • @Dbuzz360 i think the mellophone you are refering to is called a flugal and i think the instrument as a whole isnt as exiteing as the trumpet (again i play the saxophone) and a good way to get better at the trumpet (the only way) especially with an instrument like the trumpet is to put in like two to three hours a day to work out your cheek muscles (without them you wont be able to hit any high notes what so ever)

  • @haleyyx725 you are wrong this isnt a brass show... any good marching band show has that feel to it where you are like "wow i think i just shit my pants"

  • we might do this for our next marching show. Im gonna be a senior it would be sooooo awesome to end with this! we just listened to it in class, my friends and i were getting goosebumps :]

  • now if only there were a band that could play this powerful.....lol

  • @tucker422 i didn't a G trumpet as in a trumpet in the key of G, i meant a G trumpet where the G is for Gangsta! And you would be mighty suprised how much harder this show is, especially for 1st trumpet, when you're marching it. Those 4-5's and 6-5's backwards really dont do your chops any good when trying to scream :P

  • @Dbuzz360 if you really have to play a G trumpet to play a double G, thats kinda sad haha its not hard on a Bb trumpet. i never played this show in high school, although i wanted to, but i recorded playing this show with a few other people playing 1st. this show is cake haha

  • We did this song for our 2011 show, but during the Concert band part of our year our band directer was busy...so he told us to just play whatever we wanted.. and our entire band just started playing the show again. This was by far my favorite show :] We won states with it, and got a farely good ranking at Nationals :]

  • @haleyyx725 it's really fun to play the woodwind part I played this my freshman year. I played the clarinet and it's one of my best band memories.

  • You skipped the whole drum section at the beggining on the third movement XD

  • I played this piece this year for marching band. It was amazing. The season just ended and I miss this song so much.

  • That was our first performance though...so we improved a WHOLE lot since then.

  • Hahaha. I just noticed, my school is in one of the links on the side, "South View Marching Tigers: Sounds of the Streets" We changed the name, but its the same show. :D

  • Are marching season ended 2 days ago. We played this, GREAT show. And a very sucessful season. I LOVED it.

  • @mrtimone4 im sweating after the first movement right now lol

  • we just had a competition for this show and we got 2nd best brass winds and percussion :D it was beast

  • @dman3334 Me too! Bass 2!

  • Playing this at Washington State University!

  • @haleyyx725 Lucky
