I had a kidney removed a couple of years ago, now I wonder if this is what happened to the thing when they took it out..

@irfand4 Soaking them in milk over night works wonders - also over cooking will cause them to be more pungent.

@irfand4 my grandma puts kidneys (with renal pelvises cut out) in a milk overnight before cutting them or cooking them. i'd say it helps.
-
@irfand4 Place them in some water an vinegar for about 10 minutes first. The Vinegar will remove the odor.

Man, it's surgery. I'm not one for organ meats. My parents occasionly have sweet breads or brains, things like that or liver. No more liver for me, mom.

Alright, I am not one who is afraid to try many foods. I will almost always try something if offered, and I've seen some things that some might find 'disgusting', but this truly looks disgusting to me. It really does. Perhaps I would try a piece of a ready cooked meal with kidney, and it might even be not as bad as it looks, but the sight of that raw, cut in half kidney just looked absolutely vile to me.

I love ya TItli but I'll pass on the kidney!!
Thanks for the tip but how does one effectively deal with the urineferous odour from fresh kidneys ?

@irfand4 Wash them well in water. You wont eliminate the odour until you cook them, but it will help.

have you tried raw kidneys? It is kind of hard and then starts to disintegrate once it is chewed a bit

How to prepare kidneys? Just tell them "Get ready, kidneys, here I come ..."
