The creature has been spotted in the woods where smokers take breaks since the hospital banned smoking June 1, but no one knows what the animal is, so they've named it Prince Chupa, after chupacabra — the legendary cryptid rumored to exist in parts of the Americas and suck the blood of livestock.

"It's a kangaroo, dog, rat mixed," X-ray technician Joe Livermore said. "It's got a rat tail and a head like a deer. I don't know what it is."

People started taking cell phone pictures of the animal and showing them around, but no one knows what it is.

"So we decided to trap it," Livermore said.

On Thursday, Livermore lured the animal with chicken and leftover Chinese food and caged it briefly to get a closer look.

"I didn't know what to do with him," Livermore said. "I didn't know what it was. People said it was a fox, a deer, a dog."

After some close-ups, the animal was released. Those pictures haven't led to a confirmation of species yet, either.

Those who've been around Prince Chupa said it's shy, not aggressive and suspect there might be more than one.

  • Large ears, large eyes (good ears and eyes for nightvision). the head looks like a Jackal at a side view, but not very canine-like: too narrow of a muzzle, too small of a head.

Honestly, idk what it is XD the closest animal I can pin it to is a canine, but just barely. It didn' make any calls or nosies, so can't i.d. it that way, and they didn't get a skin sample...if only they'd thought of maybe checking the bait for saliva samples...?

  • I'm pretty sure no canine has that long of a tail when it has no fur. My examination:

The large hindquarters that give it a kangaroo appearance would suggest a good jumper and/or bounder/runner. Most predators attack from behind, so strong hind legs makes sense. It's definitely a predator, you can tell by the body shape. the tail's quite long, used for balance perhaps? From what I can see it has the walk of a strict predatory quadraped. It definitely has a predator face-long muzzle, large nose,

  • they said it was a coyote with a strange skin disease

  • Fox with mange, should've taken it to an animal shelter to get it treated, poor little fecker must be itchy as heck!

  • yup hairless fox

  • /..

  • a fox with a bad case of mange and or fleas

  • Yay to them for letting it go and not allowing it to be kept in a cage for curiousity/experiments etc for the rest of it's life. : )
