If you like this, please check out the earlier Moszkowsky's Waltz with the the superlative ballet dancers Lepeshinskaya and Gusev. I think it has a lot of paralells to this, and it's pretty neat to compare these two dances. :)
after watching American in Paris, the introducer on TCM, said that Cyd was hired to play the role in American in Paris, but she discovered she was pregnant and declined so the part was given to Lesile Caron... I would have loved to have seen her in that role.. and this is coming from someone 29 and not even around during those times..i just feel her magic
I don't care if this whole scene thing was jammed in, its gorgeous, and this dance especially reminds me of a Salvador Dali painting with its endless deserted background and heightened colors.
