Solar panels can be more eco-efficient. Typical solar water heating systems negate their carbon savings by 20% by being cheaply designed to run on mains electric power. This waste can be avoided. Instead solar electric panels (PV) can run the pumps and controllers necessary to make the most efficient solar thermal panels. Short case study about Solartwin.com.

  • For further discussion of the 20% carbon clawback problem which mains powered solar water heating systems tends to suffer from and the bizarre fact that a leading UK solar trade association falsely claims that all solar is "truly zero carbon" and the ever odder fact that UK's false claims "watchdog" will not bring them to heel, please take a look at my "solar cowboys" video.
