Chris Matthews lays smackdown on Kevin James - Nazi smear

Chris Matthews Eviscerates Right-Wing Host Kevin James Over Obama "Appeasement" Claims
Utterly insane goings-on tonight on Hardball, where, for the second night in a row, the "Hardball Sideshow" segment was preceded by a scene that way outfreaked it. Tonight, host Chris Matthews took up President Bush's pointed attack on the Democrats in the Knesset today, asking if Bush was "out of line." Radio talk-show host Kevin James didn't think so, saying - and I'm paraphrasing - "RRRRAAAAAHHHH! OBAMA BLAAAAHHHH! HAMAS LOVES BARACK, YAAAAHHHH!" Chris Matthews was quick to ask, "Why are you screaming?"

But the best was yet to come. Matthews, convinced that James was being a fatuous ass, called him out on his knowledge of geo-political history, asking James if he knew what Neville Chamberlain did at Munich in 1938. If you answered, "He signed the Munich Agreement, conceding a portion of Czechoslovakia to the Nazi regime," you are right. If you answered, "He talked to Hitler, and caused 9/11 to happen and made the Statue of Liberty cry, just like Barack Hussein bin Laden wants to!" then you are Kevin James.

The ensuing melee is just far to shouty and unhinged to transcribe. Basically it ran like this, over and over again:

MATTHEWS: WHAT DID NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN DO? WHAT DID HE DO? YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT HE DID, DO YOU?

JAMES: WUBBA WUBBA HUH?


Until finally, James conceded, sort of, that he didn't know. Matthews replied: "Your problem, is, Kevin, you don't know what you're talking about. You don't understand there's a difference between talking to the enemy and appeasing. What Chamberlain did wrong was not talking to Hitler, but giving half of Czechoslovakia." He then growled, "This is pathetic," tossed it to Air America's Mark Green, who told James, "Kevin, when you're in a hole, stop digging."

I hope people watching this video don't jump to the ridiculous conclusion of "all Republicans are stupid" - Ignorance of History is a global issue, and as bad in the US as it is anywhere else. Also a serious problem - as demonstrated by James - is not admitting when you're wrong. That's what sickens me most about this video.

@sarsfield65 You should read what happened next. Hitler lied! So the point is: You can't trust or negotiate with ruthless dictators like Hitler. Obama sitting down with Iran would be like when Chamberlain trusting Hitler to stop his desire to grab more territories, Hitler lied, just like when he lied to Stalin that he wouldn't attack Russia. Again, the point is, you can't make deals or talk reason with unreasonable people; and you are proof of that!

@Krydan2167 You should actually read some history like your idol Mr. James. Munich was about Hitler making the argument that a section of Czechoslovakia, the Sudentenland, should have been German because of the high German population that was there - nearly 50%. Since the region used to be part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire - and was only recently made into a country - most in the UK were not willing to die for that concept as they did in WWI. Don't be like Michele Bachmann, learn history.

@sarsfield65 So my position is this: Talking with Iran is worthless rather we put something on the table or not; like Hitler he is a worthless tyrant that hates Israel, and believes Israel should be destroyed, as well as big Satan "The US" in order for the 12th Imam to return and usher in a new world order complete with Sharia law and all it's fun loving liberal advancements of the arts, gay pride day, and womens rights. The 12th Imam will probably make Michale Moore king or something!

@sarsfield65 Yeah an Obama doesn't want another war with a Muslim country: Well maybe Libya... Oh yeah and supporting an uprising in Egypt! But otherwise he want's to talk Iran into doing the right thing. What Chamberlain did was hand Hitler Czechoslovakia on a silver platter on the promise that, that would be Hitlers last territorial demand. How did negotiating with the little tyrant pay off? Again, what is talking with Iran going to solve if there is no offer on the table from the US?

@Krydan2167 If you have "heard" of the Munich Pact then you would know the reasons why Chamberlain was willing to talk to Hitler. England had no desire to engage in another European war after World War I to protect the rights of a newly formed country that was less than twenty years old at the time. Also, since you have "heard" of the agreement take a look at what was agreed too. Now don't you have to scurry off to a birther convention?

@sarsfield65 I've heard of the Munich pact: I just never heard Mathews mention it till 3:35 into his ignorant question. You nor the other idiot on here has answered the question: If Obama was just going to talk without making an offer, then what good would there be in talking with Iran in the first place? Chamberlain's willingness to talk and negotiate with an evil dictator lead to the Munich pact. .So how did that agreement that began with a willingness to talk with Hitler work out?
