  • you need limestone, all over europe this year not good, now with some rain is better. The early truffle near the surface (september) but later in the year you need a dog. Now , good truffle perhaps £200.00 kilo most of the year £100.00 a kilo . I am often employed by the farmer and don't always enjoy the cash rewards. Watch out for ticks, tuck your trousers in your socks but yes don't be put off good luck

  • Can you tell me what sort of dog you have? Is it some sort of poodle cross? Excuse my ignorance! It's a great dog.

  • @TheHoodlumUK she is a lagotta Romagno, essentially you need any dog that likes truffle and takes your fancy. When they are puppies and hungry crumble fresh truffle at their feet thats probally a good start.

  • @harzelhare Thanks for the info, There are many wooded areas in the Carlisle/Borders area where i live that look very similar to where you seem to be looking. Do truffle's just grow naturally around the UK given the right conditions? And what sort of £ did you make from that little walk down the woods that day? I'm seriously thinking of having a root around myself!
