Oscar VS Catfish

How to help your Oscar if it tries to eat a catfish and fails to swallow it?
This clip might help you do so...
the fish is in real pain, so if this happens to your Oscar, please take immediate action!

My special thanks to the owners of www.oscarfishlover.com as their website suggested what to do
otherwise I was of the thought that the Oscar is gonna throw catfish out in a day or two!

  • da pet store jus wants 2 sell fish, they dont care about u or da fish.

  • Agreed man!!!

    you are right!

  • big suprise...Oscars as well as most large predatory cichlids will eat anything that moves and will fit in their mouth. All varieties of Catfish have a razor sharp spine on their dorsal fin that stands straight up as a defense mechanism that will keep a fish from being able to swallow it, You should do some research before mixing fish.

  • thanks for the advice sir,

actually it was the fish dealer that misinformed me..

I told him I have a cichlid tank and its getting algae,

he gave me catfishes.... I asked him about the compatibility and he said its OK...

I used to keep Goldfishes, Sharks and other such types for 7 years...

recently switch to these wonderful lively fishes, so I will really do research of my own before introducing new species to the tank!

    any advices???

  • Well done, informative video.

  • Who's the bozo who told you Oscar's mix well in community tanks? Many pet store employees are potheads who know next to nothing about fish-keeping. Ideally, Oscars should have their own tanks at least 55 gallons or more. I've kept them with other large cichlids but I always make sure the stock is low and the oscars are well fed. I've only been able to breed them in isolated tanks. Most people don't appreciate how much room they need. They're also quite intelligent so they grow bored easily

  • dude howed you get it out

  • fuken mad video man.

  • the sounds is soo creepy lol

  • @Tellemuno it depends on the employee some employee dont give a shit but some will stop u and be like... "hey how big is the tank? and do u know what 2many fish in 1 tank will do?" or "they cant be in the same tank sorry i wont sell them to u unles u promise u wil seperate them" it depends on the employee...

  • thanx buddyy
