After reaching total depth on the drilling rig and lost circulation about, they were told to pull pipe out of the hole, and about 25 minutes later the rig collapsed.
Shit happens in the patch but most is avoidable by not letting worms and dope fiens operate a drilling rig. Careful who u work for.my crew and I have been running together for a long time same rig. Take em home just like I pick em up. God willing I will continue to
my husband rode the derrick down back in the early 80 's here in north dakota /and he is still kicking and still working the rigs but he took a few years away .I dont thinku can get him to go back up today he is motorhand /partime driller
@sixtyninecollector this rig was a Tomcat rig with Offices in Wichita,KS. there ar also pictures in the newspaper archives and further articles, it WAS NOT WIND
This rig pulled into a tight spot and the driller pulled the crown in. just because you got the draw-works to pull 300000 dont mean the derrick will take it. I have friends in the patch that live near where this happened.I dont know how much he pulled on it but it was 1# too much.
well, obviously it didn't catch fire, doesn't look like a blowout, there was stands of pipe sticking out of what remains of the derrick....pulling off btm....maybe pulled tight, sucked the crown in and the legs buckled...do they have regular inspections? here in Canada we perform a level 4 inspection around 1000 operating days...this usually consists of a Magnetic Partical Inspection (MPI) on the derrick and sub...and yes...a rig could just collapse
