  • Great, easy to understand, info. Curious though...it says that 9 points AF is suitable for things that move 'predictably'...one example being 'rock concerts.' I shoot a lot of concerts, and I never know from one second to the next which way the musicians will move. How does this qualify as predictable? Are you sure the 51 points wouldn't be best for that scenario? Rock musicians most often move erratically and quickly around.

  • They are predictable and you are just not ready in time to snap away when a musician makes a sudden move. Since the stage at concerts is usually crowded with four or more band members moving constantly, it could confuse the 51-points AF. So, you need 9-points AF (or single point AF) for better isolation to prevent confusion.

  • hello dude, i am having a problem while taking shots with my new D100 nikon camera. The thing is that when i press the shutter button halfway there is the sign of memory buffer saying '06'with a symbol tooand i cant take pictures anymore. So what should i do to remove this error or i dont know what it is.Thanx.

  • The "06" sign tells you how many pictures could be written onto the card during a burst shoot. It is something else and we are unable to help because it could be anything.

  • hello,

I still get one focus point in my fiew finder and i can move it manually even tho I setup my D300 to dynamic area AF and its on AF-C

it show at the top screen its 9, 21 or 51 ( what i selected ) but when i look in the fiew finder to shoot its still only one focus piont.

    any idea ? any one,

    thax alot guys

  • The AF point that is visible in the viewfinder is the primary AF point.

The surrounding AF points (8- / 21- / 50-points) are invisible but works "in the background". When you move the primary AF point, the surrounding AF points will move along as well.

  • excellent videos.all of your tutorials are great.helps me a lot understanding how to use my cam , lenses etc.your tutorials are the best .

  • Thanks for the prompt reply. Please keep up the excellent work. Will subscribe

  • Unfortunately, only D300(s), D700, and D3-Series have that many AF points. D200 only has 11 AF points. So, if using Dynamic Area AF, it will be using 9 AF points (one primary and 8 surrounding). However, it may not focus accurately because the AF points are too far apart from each other.

  • hi how you doing?

though im a photography enthusiast im not too good on the technical side.

    i have a Nikon D200 DX with AF-S 18-135mm nikkor lens.

while watching this video i noticed you explaining and demonstrating the 9,21 and 51 point tracking. now in my viewfinder i get what i think is a 9 point tracking spread out , how do i get the 21 and 51 point tracking.

also in my viewfinder i get the 9 point as i said very spread out and doesnt look like your view ( timeline 2.59 )
