The Water is Wide

Jon Shelton, Kathy Sundquist and Steve Freiburger recorded a beautiful rendition of the folk song The Water is Wide. I thought the song made a fitting metaphor for old men and their love of 'the game' and youth's disillusionment once they realize they're the ones that pay the price for old men's lies
- as Kipling said "If any question why we died, tell them because our fathers lied."

This video tells the truth at the heart of war (and Kipling did too, although he is generally regarded as a jingoist and an empire-lover). War gains nothing but heartbreak, except for those who care only for their own "glory" and enrichment at others' expense.

Tragically, the world at large is not listening to reason. It's all too easy to fool most people into thinking what their "masters" want them to.
