your analogy to homosexuality and race is misguided. Being gay may not be a choice but marriage is ALWAYS a choice and that's why we are here. The government doesn't ask you whether you are gay or straight. sexual orientation has nothing to do with the issue.you can't compare an immutable characteristic (race, gender, etc) to somebody's behavior. A lifestyle is not a minority. Jews, blacks, and women were discriminated against for who they were not for who they were having sex with.

@kenballer00 thats why i say ban marriage and make civil unions the standard since the religinazis like to claim the term and the haters want to make us accept the second class term of civil union so we'll shut up and leave them and their upper class status alone. not gonna happen. we are just obnoxious and relentless enough to bring the fight for years to come. we are fighting for the future and all you can do is point out the past.
-
@kenballer00 it doesnt exist becuase its illegal at the moment idiot... duh. we are working to bring it into existance. the argument about procreation is futile and boring. gay couples have a relationship just as much as straight couples. they have sex just as straight couples do. the fact we cant procreate is great becuase we have way too many children being born and living in foster care or orphanages wasting away becuase nobody wants them. our human nature is the same as straights.
-
and the central aspect of that relationship is the sexual union that brings about and develops the next generation which is an absolute necessity for the civilization to continue or any civilization for that matter. sense the continuation of society is the first concern of the state. the government has a vested interest in protecting the institution of marriage (the relationship)
This is why virtually every government in the history of the world even the most simple tribes regulated marriage.

you just dont get it do you. Even if the supreme court upholds prop 8 or the country establishes gender neutral marriage into our constitution, same sex couples still would not and cannot be married because it's impossible by nature. There is no such thing as gay marriage. What societies, religions, and governments (including our country) call "marriage" actually flows from our very human nature. It's a relationship that we apply the word "marriage" to, but the relationship is what comes first

Is this guy for reals? I cant believe there are so many naive and narrow minded people running around.

@kenballer00 there is ALWAYS a next time.

@kenballer00 and black rights to marry and vote didnt exist until they were fought for. Same with womens rights to vote. None of that existed until they marched and protested and died and fought for them and they were put into law and given to them. this is what we are doing right now. i've talked to many legal experts and most of them say the chances are very high of the ruling against prop h8 being upheld. You're shooting so many blanks. Legal precedents are not always honored.
-
But thats just it though. How do you takeaway a right that doesn't even exist in the first place? As I said before, when prop 8 is upheld (something that is not debatable when you actually weigh the legal precedent) , there won't be any excuse your side can fabricate that can justify creating these special accomodations. This means there is no "next time".
Besides, I hardly call having to reference one's own union a civil union instead of a marriage something that would uproot a person's life.
-
@kenballer00 its debatable whether its going to be upheld or not. if it is there are other avenues we are pursuing. its not the end of the war. just one battle. and the reason the margin was low was actually people getting smart and realizing they were hurting their loved ones by choosing to take away their rights. as i've said so many times before to so many others... next time will be more and probably will be just enough to get our rights and convince opposers their reasons are baseless.
Sorry for commenting again. I just cant stop watching this. I love this. There is no need to change it, ever. Its perfect.

Feel free to comment as much as you like =] You're moving me up the most discussed list lol.
Glad you liked my poem.
It's a shame it wont actually make a difference.

@peebzzz yah it really is a shame. Its quite ridiculous that people have such hatred for those that are different from them. As much as we do, I get the sick feeling that things will never change, but that doesnt mean I will stop trying. Keep up the good work.

Hey, I'm not doing anything. I'm just writing poetry. I stopped thinking I could save the world a couple years ago. Which is a shame I guess. People don't protest anymore. Not really. It's not like before. And now if anyone does protest their names and details get recorded in government systems even if it was just peaceful (that might just be in the uk). I've landed in a docile time. Nobody cares enough to make a difference.
