@RObuilder8 It is called "Great Stuff" . It is an insulating foam in a can and they sell it at all hardware stores/home improvement stores. Good luck with your volcano!

thanks so much 4 this video & the paint info. we've decided to try this for my son's very 1st science project. he's 8 yrs old & this is his favorite one. we watched about 10 other volcano tutorials. creative use of the insulating foam. we have tons of that left over after a room addition. :)

like the volcano. easy, best of all no mess. but i dont have a hole saw or anything to cut the hole in wood. how about cardboard? would that work since its only supporting the actual volcano? what type of paint did u use? not water color right?

@nastypupp Hi, good luck! Yes i think a couple of layers of cardboard might be ok. Try to seal it with something so it doesnt get soggy. I used acrylic paints. Just got to seal it with something too.
