What is Doga? - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats.

Hello and welcome to Doga: Yoga for you and your dog. My name is Susie Titleman and this is my dog, Coley; Tucker is behind me and Curly, she is somewhere around the house. She will be here soon. Today, we are going to learn how to do Yoga with your dog at home.

Doga is a partner Yoga class with your dog or any kind of pet actually, if you want try other animals. I have birds and sometimes they get involved. A lot of people use cats, but to me, when I explain Doga, it is just a traditional Yoga class. There is nothing fancy or different than what you would do in a regular Yoga class, except that your dogs are on the mat with you and you involve them in the postures.

Doga started by Coley, when he was just a puppy, getting on the mat with me, and I start adding him to the poses. Next thing you know, I created some sequences of different postures that you do with your dog. So, Doga has come from an inspiration of love between me and my pet to a true Yoga class that people are doing all over the world.

More and more people are interested in doing Doga because they love their dogs and they love Yoga. It is a perfect combination for people who love both. It is also a perfect place for you to be a beginner in Yoga and come to with your dog and learn Yoga together.

  • I recall a show on Animal Planet called K9 Karma that starred a dog named Charlie and his owner that had a Yoga studio in New York that you took your dog to. She claims Doga started with her dog? But the show that I am referring to occured years ago. It is no longer aired.
