Operation Athena Sword

Starfleet Engineering's new project, dubbed "Athena", is ready for trial runs. The Romulan Tal'shiar catches word of this new generation of starship and wants to obtain it and study it. Sending a fake distress signal, the Captain of the Athena has no alternative but to answer it, not knowing its a Romulan ploy. When the Athena is disabled and captured, they use the Athena as a post for another plot to capture more Federation vessels. The two nearest ships, the old USS Stargazer, and the newest battleship "Bismarck", aswer the distress signal. While the Stargazer is the first to respond, the Bismarck is ordered to its base of operations, Starbase 612 for a computer fix. The Romulans, not knowing why a 100 year old "Bucket" has answered the distress call, they immediately open fire on the Stargazer, not knowing that her weapons have been upgraded to "Excelsior" issue R.I.M. emitters. The rest explains itself.
