On January 4, 2010, the only organization solely dedicated to helping Metro Detroiters overcome employment challenges opened the doors of its first stand-alone free enterprise venture Detroit-based Goodwills Green Works, Inc. (Green Works). A wholly owned subsidiary of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit (Goodwill), Green Works offers cost-saving, environmentally friendly asset recovery services to DTE Energy.
Green Works prevents metal waste and other materials from reaching landfills, keeps harmful oils from polluting ground water supplies, conserves energy, and creates full-time work and training opportunities for the Detroit areas unemployed. It is one of the only in the state.
