Studies show that rates of sexual violence and sex crimes are actually higher in countries that restrict pornography than in countries where porn is more easily accessible. This makes some sense, as a society that's less repressed and more open about sex can avoid the suppressions that lead to sex crimes.

Point is, porn isn't bad, sex isn't bad. It doesn't encourage violence. Censorship is what's harmful.

America is called "the land of the free" yet everything we see and do is censored. Youtube is trying to censor things now. Next thing you know the internet will be censored because people cant watch their kids well enough. America is way too religious and hates ANYTHING that might be considered a sin on any mass media outlet.

@suckithardnfast You can't blame the issue of censorship on religion, that's bullshit. America is a country of many people, of many different ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds; someones motive to keep television kid friendly during the hours of 6-10 in the morning to 4 to 8 o'clock at night might be because they actually have children, and want to parent them according to their age. And so, using this democracy we have, they give their input. "Religion" isn't all of it.

@piman314159265358979 On the contrary, censorship isn't what's harmful; it's what we choose to censor. And we censor some forms of pornography that are destructive, and many of which should be censored due to their lack of ethical concerns. Regular pornography, between consenting adults, for a consenting and willing consumer, should not be censored or blocked. What however should be censored is material which attempts to promote or make a market for violent, sexual assault, or other things.
