Are you saying "casero cheese"? If so,isn't that a mexican cheese?

@LoweredNJuiced Happy New Year!! The Parthenon Greek Rest in Chicago lays claim to the invention of Saganaki. They state it in their book, which is where I learned of their claim. I also learned a long time ago, never to argue with Greeks - you'll never win! Thanks for watching the video and Best Wishes in the new year!

@LoweredNJuiced Saganaki originated in Greece. The title even says it's Greek. Flaming Saganaki (depicted in this video) is believed to have been created in Chicago.

@LoweredNJuiced He was going to grate the old feta but since it cooked itself in the oil he couldn't. He then served the spaghetti to the customers with the meat sauce on top and then brought out the fried feta. The people at the table looked at it like it was disgusting, the youngest boy cut a piece and ate it saying it was good. The others tried it too. From then on other restaurants caught onto it on Samos, Chios, Ikaria, Fournoi, Kalamata, Patra, Athens and so on, but Chicago? yeah right...!

The origin of Saganaki is not Chicago! Who and why would anyone say that? On Samos island in the city of Karlovassi around 1890-1900 there was a restaurant owner who had customers waiting at a table for spaghetti with graded cheese. All he had was old feta, mad, he threw the feta at the garbage bin but missed and it fell into a pot of hot oil. He went next door asking for feta, they had none extra and he wasn't a nice man, so he went back and saw the feta had cooked itself in the oil.-CONTINUED-
