TRUMBO focuses on the writer's own indelible words, the film features performances of some of his extraordinary letters, clips from his films and, archival and contemporary interviews with those who knew him best. Forced to write underground, letter writing became the chief repository of Trumbo's extraordinary talents and they serve as a wonderfully entertaining testament to his boundless intellect, acerbic humor, and staggering resilience.

  • Looks like a great movie. And It leads very nicely into the story of Edward de Vere coming out this fall.

  • He's a man, not a woman.

  • @FigurinItOut I felt the same way. He is such a fascinating subject and all the straight documentary stuff was perfect, but the actors "emoting" over his quotes just felt overwrought. I would have preferred if they just put the quotes up on the screen for us to read. I wanted the definitive movie on the Blacklist, but this will have to do.

  • A genius author but also a pompus Stalinst who took full advantage of the nation he had contempt for.

  • VIVA A LIBERDADE - I saw the film in full. A picture that shows one period of history that we must not forget. America's Freedom fought for this freedom that made America (USA).

  • I had mixed feelings about this movie. I liked the documentary footage and interviews, but the actors' monologues were a bit awkward.

  • I read about him in the book Red Scare. He was brilliant and honorable: just the opposite of the clowns in government he detested.

  • I had the privilege of seeing the movie "Trumbo", and became aware of the weaknesses Hollywood had during the fear-based mentality that was happening during the "red scare" and how the government was just as responsible in manipulating the public through fear as it is to this day. A pity such wise writers, standing up for their rights were so ostrasized,(sp). We lost a great many stories that could have been told from the "10".
