Casey definitely wanted to feel freedom from her burdens and her family. She was raised with the entitled attitude. Even if she wasn't entitled.  Cindy tried to control the situation, but Cindy never figured out that sometimes it's impossible to control the situation. I don't blame Cindy for being pissed off at Casey for stealing, lying, etc. Yet I do blame Cindy. She should've counseled Casey into an abortion or adoption, and not have tried to impose her values on Casey.

@billbitt96 Yep, it's a tough world alright. However, how many people do you know who have murdered their 2 year old child? C'mon. Yes, the whole situation is just screwed up to the max! They wanted the perfect family, but life is not perfect. Cindy was definitely too domineering. Casey made a mistake and got pregnant. Casey was jealous of Cindy. Casey was resentful of Cindy. Cindy made Casey feel worthless. That should've been the prosecutors argument. period.

@cne08 I think that brother of hers knows more than he's saying-I wouldn't be surprised if he helped her cover it up. They're both a couple of socio/psychopaths. I just hate Casey's guts. How could a mother do this to her child and just go on and be happier without her? Why not give her to her grandmother but NO-if she couldn't have her, she didn't want her mum to have her.
