For Al-Arabiya TV's morning show, correspondent Nadia Bilbassy discusses concerns about LASIK, or vision correction using lasers. Includes interview with Washington optician Tony Byers of Insight eyeglass boutique. Story produced and some camera by Lubna Takruri.
Lets do the math folks. An estimated 12,000,000 Americans have had LASIK. The FDA is reporting a 95.4% success rate (however the LASIK industry defines success). That represents a 5% failure rate, or about 600,000 Americans and their families RUINED from LASIK. Now are the numbers making sense? The FDA is way off at only having 142 complaints over 11 years. Are you starting to understand the epidemic? Would you go up in an airplane if it crashed 35% of the time? LASIK odds are about that
