John White was released from jail in Dec. of 2010 and is a free man now. Considering there is no Castle Doctrine in New York, White is very lucky to be free. Al Sharpton got involved in John White's case but he did not get involved with Joe Horn's case and that does not surprise me one bit.

Man gets caught with a joint in west virginia and goes to prison for a year. Man beats up wife and gets a small fine.  Man in California gets caught with a joint and gets a small fine. Man in california beats wife and goes to prison for a year. Interesting huh?

State law generally governs the criminal justice system. Texas has entirely different laws than other states. For example in West Virginia domestic violence is generally a small misdemeanor as long as the battered spouse is not killed. In WV any amount of any drug or paraphenalia lands you in prison for up to a year. In california possession of marijuan is an incurrence and if you beat up your spouse it can be considered a felony.

John White was charged in 'leftist" New York where laws tend to favor criminals not the victims; his real problem was owning a handgun in New York.

Joe Horn was prosecuted in Texas where the law was in his favor and his right to own a firearm was never questioned, Texas juries usually side with the homeowner.

Had John White lived in Texas, he would have never been charged.
