I don't understand...why didn't they put the fire out before it spread to the entire building?! I can't believe they would just let a majestic historical building burn like that. That was one of the most beautiful structures in all of Utah, and they let it burn to the ground...

I once read somewhere that the building that "replaced" the original Saltair was actually built about one mile from the original buildings location. Any truth to this?

Just one of many tragedies that happened there. The building that replaced this (deliberately) destroyed one was flooded in 1984! Previously it caught fire in the thirties.

I heard about this fire many years ago from a friend in Salt Lake who made his independent film 'The Giant Brine Shrimp'at that place.The cult film'Carnival Of Souls' was also filmed there..sad.
