  • It just seems to be such an amazing coincidence that the ONLY scientific theories religious people go out of their way to try and disprove are the ones which interfere with religious beliefs

  • I'd like to say that it's fine to be religious, but it is UNNACCEPTABLE to try to force your religion on others. I HATE people that do that.

  • @27riverdale well said

  • @uknowispeaksense I think it was Feynman that said something about all possible histories having existed, or something along the lines of that. If this is correct then the implications are astounding and will send one crazy. I must say, I did have the same idea myself, even before I heard Feynman. To me, the universe must have been around forever, and anything that is possible has already happened and is happening somewhere. The list of things that are possible would probably terrify us!

  • @1simonmatthews I think you are suggesting perhaps that consciousness was somehow preordained and that it is also an endpoint. This hints that there must be some sort of meaning. For me, I don't buy that. It's all chance, physics and chemistry.

  • @1simonmatthews Using this basic logic, we could view the universe as something that is trying to wake up. I think this is a fair way to describe it.

  • Either consciousness has always existed in the universe, or the potential for consciousness has always existed in the universe. The ingredients in the early universe, if not conscious, must have at least contained the potential to be conscious, otherwise consciousness wouldn't exist now. What is potential consciousness? Aren't we potentially conscious every night when we are in a deep sleep? When we wake, it's just those potentially conscious ingredients mixing into something that is conscious.

  • @FFXFREAK572 I am using your term "oh my fucking science!" Loved it! I'm tickled by it. Thanks.

  • "Darwin is liked by evolutionists because he liberated science from the straitjacket of observation and opened the door to storytellers. This

gave professional evolutionists job security so they can wander through biology labs as if they belong there."

--- David Coppedge, Speaking of Science, Creation Matters, May/June 2003

  • Silly Humans.... The Spaghetti Monster is the One True God!

  • @FFXFREAK572 when someone is this intrenched in their religious beliefs, continuing the debate is a waste of time. Just imagine what it would be like from their point of view. Their whole world view is based on their religion (most likely because of indoctrination at a young age). Imagine the fear, irrational as it may be, that arises when they understand the possibility that there is no god. This is why they essentially cover their ears and put their blinders on. Some people are too far gone
