Day after day, struggle after struggle...wrestling with sin. Some days are victorious, some days bring us shame. I often wonder why God would even bother with us. Why would He want to give us His constant love even though we often turn our backs on Him more than we should.

However, with the Spirit of God's help we can recover and make every day new. We can cry out to His endless mercy much like the author of this song does. The author holds nothing back in his humility. As he is pleading for God's help, he knows he does not deserve it. The author knew that God's mercy and love is an endless fountain. Let each of us not forget that we can come to Him at any time. It is our mistake when we choose to delay or ignore His forgiveness making our path of life only more treacherous.

We need to be reminded, as this song tells us, that although we don't deserve His constant love, it is there. And when we mess up...He still loves us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
