An incredibly beautiful production of HAIR, done for Musical Sommer in Amstetten 2007.

In this production (from the same people who designed the glorious 2001 Vienna Revival, the cast recording of which is available for purchase), the action was set not in the traditional hippie commune, but in a circus. The tribe travels through many different cities, pulling the play from its traditional New York location. The time is the present, so Claude goes to the Middle East, and the tribe protests the 2nd President Bush instead of LBJ, while Woof harbors a crush on Justin Timberlake instead of Mick Jagger.

Despite these changes, changes in staging and NOT in story, I find the production very faithful to the spirit of the original HAIR, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Hope you enjoy this clip.

Berger-Rob Fowler
Claude-Mark Seibert
Sheila-Sabine Mayer
Dionne-Kudra Owens
Woof-Pehton Quirante
Hud-Ruben Heerenveen

  • POWERFUL!

  • They guy who played the butterfly, who looks like the same man who played Herod in JCS Amesteen (spelling?)

  • I find it really interesting. I am usually concerned, when the setting is adapted from such a powerful musical, that the moral might suffer. But it is evident that the message and content of the show was respected on such a profound level here, and the meaning still rang through the performance. It is mind-blowing, the strength that this group of people has. One of most brilliant performances of this material I have ever seen!

  • I love how they orchestra cuts at 5:35 and they come down to pianissimo!! Also, Kudra Owens high belt is incredible!!

  • Amsterdam!

Somehow Amsterdam and Hair seem like a match made in Hippie Heaven.

Whenever I go through Amsterdam I remember the hippie part of my life. I still adhere to a good 20 to 30% of the values and philosophy, the rest I've scrapped for the better.

    Good production.

  • @jacknewsie1

    Yes you are right!

    Mark played Fiyero in Wicked!

i saw him live and it was ... unbelievable :)

    He's the best : )

  • @ujump411 The name of the actor is Mark Seibert!

    He's my all time favorite : )

  • Even though some of the words I didn't understand, but understood the sentiment, this was an outstanding performance. As a child of the 60s, it's amazing that many of the things Hair "spoke" about is still happening today. Thank you so much for posting this video.

  • awesome drumming in this version !
