This video will show you how to run a Linux Distribution (Ubuntu, in this case) through a live CD. There are three parts to this video, and in the 2nd I tell you about how to get a live CD. Here is the website:
www.ubuntu.com
There, you can go to the side bar on the left side and select get Ubuntu. From there, you can either select download Ubuntu (which I wouldn't recommend, unless you don't like waiting for anything) and put it on a CD/DVD to run, or you can do what I did and select request free CDs. Now, you have to sign up for an account, but thats only to track your shipping info. The downside to this method is that Linux will take 4-10 weeks to arrive. I would wait in getting Ubuntu for a couple days, just because a new version is coming out (8.04, codename Hardy Heron) and its just got some updates from version 7.1 (Gutsy Gibbon). Sorry about the screen, if it looks bad, don't have any idea how to solve that issue. Sorry about the breaks in between the videos and the long pauses during them, my camera has a set limit on the amount of video you can shoot. Subscribe, comment, and rate if you like my videos!

  • those are preety good reasons..but man..the instalation of ubuntu is like win xp? booting and formating disk?

  • I am under the impression (from many threads on some forums) that you only need to format the disk if you are installing it on something such as an external hard drive or (maybe) a flash drive. Not ENTIRELY sure on this, but the installation is pretty simple. I've got a video on it.

  • man this is really cool..i will install it thx for help! peace.

  • If I understand what you are saying, you want me to tell you why you should get Ubuntu instead of XP? Well, first of all, Ubuntu has very few virus'. Secondly, Ubuntu is very very VERY small, which will free up a lot of hard drive space on your computer. Thirdly, Ubuntu is probably the easiest distro of Linux to run. Once you get "better" persay, you can try out other distros, such as Fedora, Suse, etc.

  • eey man...tell me a good reason to give xp on ubuntu
