This new Chapter 30 is going to be great (a lot of thanks to IAVA!)! I've been use to the old Montgomery GI Bill and had to pay $1,800 into to get the benefits I do--which still isn't bad. It's nice it's a 100% earned benefit now for at least 3 years of military service. It really is one of the best government provided education plans now.

I feel like I lucked out. My father is a Ph.D. and a professor, so I'm able to go to college for free and use the Chap 30 benefits as income. I am happy that IAVA and others put in the work for this new GI Bill. Now every veteran will have the same opportunity as I have. So many people who go to school and work full time fall through the cracks. This new bill will ensure that veterans can concentrate on an education. We deal with enough already, this lets us put our minds at ease.

Go to school or back. The GI Bill is going to be great this Fall. As a full-time student, times are no harder for me now than they were four years ago when I was last a full-time student before going back to active duty. Plus, I'm in the Guard now, so that's a little more money & extra job training/additional resume material. You've got to be smart with your money & need a good plan of attack. Even if the worst comes, I don't worry, because I'll just go out in the country & work on a farm.
