  • even if someone dont like him...Rios was a tennis genius.....period

  • I agree. Marcelo would have been dominat in that era. He could do everything McEnroe could do and had better footspeed. Marcel was mazing as a shotmaker. The other guys could not tell where Marcelo was going with his shots.

  • People always overrate rios lack of attitude. The truth is that his injury´s nightmare started at the end of ´98. We will never know if that was his peak, but he surely lost the footspeed and confidence forever.

  • kafelnikov the man.

  • Rios was like a very artistic player. However, he lacked the pure beast game that someone like a Sampras/Safin could rely on every match. That is what Nadal has. The big power and spin on the forehand, ability to grind like Muster, and cheat code passing shots. The real meat of the Rios game was speed and foot work. The rest was for highlights.

  • this guy, pùre magic

  • Dude ... Rios fucked Courier up good ...

  • viktorobrol what make you think that "play with more spin" is better? There is nothing like the flat or semi-flat shot ! It requires some much more talent !

  • Pavarotti is a huge Chilean fan lol

  • Nadal = Gim + Will + Top Spin

Rios = Flat Forehand + play inside the court + speed + hit in motion+ backhand killer to the angles...

  • @teflonmagnet That's true. But he showed some great matches against guys in top ten...But, doesn't matter. In my opinion, he is next to Federer, one of most talented players in this game...

  • @viktorobrol wasn't agassi on meth during '98 season.lol

don't yell at me about nadal being better than rios. i know you know who is the better player. my contention is that nadal's serve is the more effective of the two. we can agree to disagree without turning this into a much ado about nothing. all i said was rios couldn't play the way he did in '98 (with incredible finesse) if he had to play in today's game. no way he would get away with a lot of the stuff he did against grandpa--courier.
