I often eat this type of veggie dish but usually as a main course - the difference being that I add sausage or chopped chicken and top it off with Parmesan cheese. Still if meat free is your choice, this recipe is quite ideal.

you can cook chickpeas separately with a pinch of Bicarbonate of Soda. With soda it cooks faster. You need to do separately because if vegies or spices you add has tartness then soda's magic is neutralized by tartness.

@grendle1500 sorry, I meant 3 per cent fat at most. And no saturated fat to speak of.

As a french i have to tell you that :
Petits pois = peas
Pois-chiches = chickpeas
Your recipe looks good anyway

@lolitagohome1 over here we call normal size peas just "peas" or sometimes garden peas, very small peas "petit pois" and chick peas chick peas (or occasionally "gram").
